The SAILOR 500 is a premium FleetBroadband satellite communication system, providing background IP data throughput speeds of up to 432 kbps. It should be considered for its suitability as the primary onboard satellite communication system, when there is no intention to fit alternative high bandwidth VSAT satcom system.
Antenna and Below Deck Equipment (BDE)
The SAILOR 500 has a fully stabilised 3-axis antenna with rate sensors for improved performance and fast intelligent satellite tracking, all housed within a 797.5 mm tall x 687 mm diameter dome enclosure. It is connected to the SAILOR 500 below deck equipment via a single coaxial cable which is supplied as 30 m twin screened RG214U, within the standard supply of the system. Forward and return broadband services are provided by the SAILOR 500 at a rate up to 432 kbps Standard IP, up to 256 kbps for streaming, a 64kbps and 56 kbps ISDN line to support more ageing data communication applications.
IP Handset and Local Exchange
The SAILOR 500 can manage up to 16 IP handsets and 2 analogue phones. Each IP handset can be called individually from shore, as well as locally from another IP handset on the vessel. This unique feature helps to eliminate the requirement for an extra PABX phone system on most vessels on which this equipment is fitted.
