NSSLGlobal'scustomer-focused global growth strategy includes a new investment programme where it proactively seeks out young innovative companies to invest in with applications that will work as a Value-Added Services to NSSLGlobal customers. Read the below stories.
AERO-SATCOM has been founded due to a market need for an all-around aeronautical satellite communications company and our objective is to bridge the gap between two complex industries: the Governmental Aircraft industry and government sector Mobile Satellite Services (MSS). When customer requirements develop where these two industries overlap, a special set of skills is required to meet the technical, regulatory and commercial aspects of the resulting project. The combination of NSSLGlobal and Eclipse creates an instant market leader in AERO-SATCOM. Eclipse has years of experience in the governmental Aeronautical Satellite Communications market, while NSSLGlobal has decades of experience in working with a number of Government & Military clients. In addition, both companies share a desire to meet the needs of demanding customers with specific requirements.
As part of this programme, NSSLGlobal acquired the majority shareholding in Marine Electronics Solutions Ltd. (trading as UK Electronics Solutions Ltd, aka UKES, established 2007) in April 2016. UKES is a specialist in installation, maintenance, supply and development of communications and navigation products and solutions for the maritime, government, offshore renewables and oil and gas sectors. The acquisition further strengthens the already long-term strategic partnership the two companies shared, and this relationship allows both companies to pool their engineering expertise. This translates into an enhancement in the global support—as well as broader product and service offering—benefiting both existing and new customers.
In December 2016, NSSLGlobal acquired Norwegian IPTV specialist company snap.tv. The new partnership sees snap.tv and NSSLGlobal working together to promote and develop entertainment services for maritime and offshore companies. Established in 2006, snap.tv provides a range of infotainment software, hardware and services. Its infotainment software service (delivered via an easy-to-use GUI) includes television, recording, video on demand and radio. With a state-of-the-art entertainment package and media distribution rights for all of the major players, snap.tv is well positioned to enhance the working environment and crew welfare on ships and offshore oil rigs. The investment programme sees NSSLGlobal offering capital, contacts and expertise to help propel similar start-ups to the next level.
In early 2018, NSSLGlobal launched NSSLGlobal Technologies, its new R&D division where its two recent Norwegian acquisitions were combined. Through the acquisition NSSLGlobal takes full ownership of SatLink’s VSAT modem and Hub product families as well as retain SatLink’s software engineering team. As part of its commitment to delivering the best satcom infrastructure in the industry, NSSLGlobal will now control and drive forward SatLink’s next-generation product roadmap, and focus significant engineering R&D towards the ongoing needs of its clients — with the full flexibility and control to quickly adapt as those needs evolve.
In December 2018, NSSLGlobal acquired the assets and activities of Station 711, a business unit within MX1 focussed on providing the maritime market with innovative communication solutions.
