Green Reefers signs up 18 vessels to NSSLGlobal VSAT

Decision driven by NSSLGlobal’s superior service, coverage and support

22 March 2017NSSLGlobal today announces that, following a successful initial trial project, it has signed a new contract with Green Reefers which will see VSAT IP@SEA installed onboard more than 18 cargo vessels to enhance satellite communications across the fleet.

Green Reefers transports refrigerated and frozen cargoes such as fish, fruit and vegetables world-wide, principally around the Atlantic, Mediterranean, Gulf of Mexico and the Baltic region.

Green Reefers initially opted to undertake a two-month trial of VSAT IP@SEA to test the capabilities of the system and their working relationship with NSSLGlobal. Green Reefers’ had such a positive experience that it opted for the company’s Economy Plus package. NSSLGlobal has now been tasked with undertaking seven new installs and eleven swap-outs of existing on-board systems, which commence in March.

As part of its brief Green Reefers required excellent coverage, particularly around West Africa, which is the company’s core market. 24/7 support and networking availability was also crucial. Green Reefers also had a pointed requirement for both a fixed Norwegian IP address and secure VPN integration into their network. As part of its offering NSSLGlobal therefore supplied a secure VPN connection to each vessel that terminated at Green Reefers’ headquarters.

“Within two months of our trial we already knew NSSLGlobal was the company for us,” commented Sigbjørn Kjetland, IT Manager Group, Green Reefers. “Choosing NSSLGlobal came down to three key elements; its superior coverage around West Africa and other key areas; its willingness to offer bespoke terms; and the good service the company offered. NSSLGlobal consistently went above to deliver on its promises, providing quick answers and transparent, easy-to-understand contract terms and service specification. Installation was fast, efficient and professional, and as part of the ongoing service we also receive constant reports on bandwidth usage, which is very useful to us.”

“We work in an increasingly competitive market,” added Frank Challier, Sales Director, NSSLGlobal. “Companies such as Green Reefers want to know that they will not only get excellent and attentive service, but also receive a cost-competitive deal with no nasty surprises lurking in the contract details.”

“Maritime VSAT projects such as this are one of NSSLGlobal’s principle areas of focus. NSSLGlobal has a reputation in the maritime industry for plain-speaking, transparent contracts and reliable service provision, as well as delivery of excellent value and quality-of-service. These are some of the reasons we have such excellent retention rates in this industry. We look forward to undertaking additional work with Green Reefers over the coming months.”
